Green Party – Let’s celebrate our environment!
So you’ve decided to become more green and environmentally friendly, what’s next? Getting your friends and family to reduce their carbon footprint would be a great green idea as well. What’s a better way to do that than by throwing a green party?
When you’re having a green party, a lot is said just in the invitations– set an example by making them of green materials. A good way to show your guests that you are serious about going green is by using eco-friendly supplies to make the invitations. A cute green idea is to make a recycled or tree free paper flower in a box surprise. If you don’t have time to make different kinds of invitations, using green recyclable paper cards is okay too. Here are some simple instructions on how to make the green flower box invitations:
Step One: You will need small green recycled gift boxes, (Good Gifts Naturally provides Red Nested Gift Boxes, they are made from wild grass and recycled box board) different colors of recycled paper, a pen, ribbon, and some scissors. Using recycled gift boxes is an important green step for us helping to maintain our forests and reduce waste in our landfills.
Step Two: Prepare your small box with the “grass” foundation for your invitation. You will need to cut small thin strips of paper (in any color of your choice) and fold them back and forth so they are ruffled. Lay these strips of paper into the box.
Step Three: Take a sheet of recycled paper in the color you want your flower to be in (You can find a set of Sustainable Handmade Stationery with writing paper by Good Gifts Naturally). Write all of the details of your party on this sheet. You can also decorate this paper any way you want, just make sure all of the details are only on one side of the paper.
Step Four: To fold the paper into a simple flower, roll the paper up in a tight cone from one of the corners. Fold the bottom smaller end of the cone over, and fold the tips of the cone backward in any direction. You can find plenty of other ways to fold paper flowers by searching on the internet.
Step Five: Place the flower in the box on top of the grass. You can add real flowers or leaves into the box if you desire. Put the lid on the box and you can seal it with some ribbon and a name card on the outside. All of the creation is up to you!
For other party ideas, think about some green ideas you would like your family and friends to know about. Let them know that by going green you are not only making yourself healthier, you are helping the planet as well. Snacks such as organic fruits and veggies can excite your guests’ green taste buds. Explain that by eating organic foods, they are tasting REAL pesticide free ingredients. If they have never tried organic merlot, make sure you have some organic wine for them to taste! During the party you can also instruct them how they can do everyday things in their house and still be green and friendly to the environment.
Other green ideas you can bring up to your party is organic beauty products, jewelry, and clothing that can substitute for the other products they are using. Many of these organic substitutes can be found on the Good Gifts Naturally website. Also this might be a good time to express the importance of Fair Trade when making your purchases. Remind your guest the importance and impact of being green and that being a conscientious consumer not only helps the environment, but fair trade helps the welfare of the people.
Hopefully by the end of your party your friends and family might have an increased sense of what going green is all about. Ask them to take their recycling a step further and try out the ideas you presented to them throughout your get together. Who knows? Maybe you will have motivated someone else to throw a green and fabulous party.
